If the terracotta pot or planter is new it may have a shiny seal painted over the surface, this makes painting directly on to the pot difficult.
To remove this, use a piece of sand paper to roughen the surface.
Ensure the terracotta is dry and clear from grease before painting.
Any of the effects demonstrated above can be used on the pots, however the paints can be used on their own to create very bright and colourful effects.
