Cement Colours They are predominantly iron oxides that combine an inherent light fastness with strength of colour. Rendona Paints Ltd has a synthetic range of pigments manufactured in its blending facility, together with a range of natural pigments quarried from across the world, comprising ochres, umbers and siennas. As well as these standard colours, Rendona Paints Ltd can match a particular colour that you wish to recreate from any material, natural or otherwise. We constantly develop new colours for our range either in partnership with or independently of our clients. All pigments and dispersions can be packaged to your exact specification from 200g to 1000kg. Weathering and Ageing Stains These must be used on freshly cured concrete as the effect is created by a chemical reaction between the stain and the free lime rising to the surface. Cobalt Sulphate Copper Sulphate Manganese Sulphate Ferrous Sulphate Calcium Chloride (CaCL2) is a rapid hardener for concrete. Quantity Our normal bag weight is 25kg. However we can pack according to any specification required and despatch any quantity from grams to tonnes. We also have a range of 1kg tubs of pigment for the building and DIY industry. Directions for use Iron Oxide (Fe203) pigments are the most reliable, light fast and durable of pigments for use in cement. We recommend use of our pigments by weight, never volume, and by using a percentage of the cement content of an overall mix. Percentages can be varied to obtain different levels of tinting or to vary the shades within a series of mixes to give a more natural effect, for instance, to an area of paving. Variation in colour shades can also be achieved by using grey or white cement, by using different coloured aggregates/sands, and by the amount of water added to the mix. We recommend between 3 and 5% of pigment by weight of Ordinary Portland Cement. For example, 4% pigment by weight of a mix with a cement content of 50kg would require 2kg of pigment. Pigmentation above 7-8% of the cement content leads to minimal change in the depth of colour. Pigments should preferably be added to a dry mix of the cement, sand and/or aggregate to shear the pigment, before adding water to the desired consistency and mixing as usual.
